Hey Snookaholics, This month is still going to be a hot one. " Hit deep water ". Water temps are a few degrees cooler down there. Fish will tend to be a bit lazy this time of year so don't pass up a fresh cut bait. Also don't pass up local areas reefs/wrecks. Use your fishfinder and spend some time learning what certain images mean. Good luck guys.

Snookaholics... or tarponaholics...both are biting big time. Skyway/Egmont Key Tarpon have been pretty big this year. Downtown/River tarpon have been pretty prominent and easier to catch than ever. Threadfins have been the bait of choice for both areas. If you are thinking of booking a trip, then right now is as good of a time as any! Send us an email today to book your trip!

People....if you are fishermen, go to Boca Grande ASAP. Don't waste your time fighting with all the aggressive boatsmen in the pass. Run north a little bit and attack the Gasparilla pass sand bars. Tons of permit schools and tarpon are bombarding the area and are ready to attack any foreign object that is thrown their way. We caught about 10 permit and a couple of tarpon, got tired, and went looking for shells on the beach. The beach had a lot of shells and big snook/reds. Don't miss this opportunity. GO! (and come write about it in this captain's log)

Friday, May 8th 2009. We left Maximo park at around 5pm. By 6pm, we had a bunch of bait and our first tarpon boarded and photoed. At our tarpon spot, we reloaded on bait. From there, we traveled about 300 yards and emptied are freshly filled livewell out on grouper (several good fish). From there, we headed inland. Pulled up to the first bridge, incoming tide was just beginning and full moon was in full force. First threadfin hits the water and one of the biggest snook I have ever seen hit Steve's bait and broke his 5o circle hook in half. Next throw, I caught a much smaller 39" snook from the bunker. We proceeded to jump a few more tarpon on pinfish at that spot. Next, we traveled to a tidal bridge and caught a 34" redfish along with about an 8lb. mangrove snapper. On the way in, we lost another snook that could have eaten my first (landed) snook. May....what a time to be fishing!

Great web site! It was also great meeting Alex this morning at the Hooters in New Port Richey. I will be buying some of those nice shirts you have. Alex, after I left Hooters, I went and pounded 3 big snook within 30 minutes in front of one of the boats in the tournament. Biggest was 38, smallest was 33.
